Clothes into furniture
A wonderful example of the upcycling of old clothes.
A very happy customer.
Sculptures by Alain Guerra and Neraldo de la Paz.
How should we upcycle the old blue school uniform when the new one makes its appearance in September? Could we use some of the items to create an artwork?

Questions from parents
- where will the logo be on the cardigan?
- what is happening with the existing PE top?
- what decision has been made about the hooded top?
- will girls be allowed to wear any kind of tights?
- will there be another session so that parents can see the completed uniform?
- what is the smallest size of uniform?

The Final Design
This presentation outlines the final design for the NEW Tallis Uniform and the plans we have for introducing it. We are now having prototypes made and will present these to staff, students and parents on 10th May 2011.
Please Please Please NO hoodies… causes friction and argument.
My concern is that the style of the proposed uniform would date quickly and would appear old fashioned. I also think hoodies should not be a part of the new uniform. Many students I have spoken to would like to feel smarter and more confident travelling to and from school. Particularly around students from other schools who have a much more formal uniform than the current Tallis hoodie.

I am pleased that the new uniform will not be a formal one & that it will be fair trade & locally produced. I am concerned as to price as we have two children to buy for and think it would be fairer to allow children to continue with the existing uniform until they have outgrown it ( this is better for parents in cash strapped times & sets a good example by not being wasteful thus caring for the environment ). I am not sure how universal the appeal of the new design will prove long term but do feel that a coloured polo shirt is preferable (white seems a bit dull & doesn’t stay white for long ). I also think the design should retain a hood and pockets, in my experience students are more likely to wear a hood than a hat in cold weather and pockets are a practical addition. I prefer black to grey for trousers & skirts it looks smart and keeps something of the original uniform. Thank you for listening to the opinion of parents & students.
